SCZONE Signs $120 Million Deal for Eroğlu Knitting Factory in West Qantara

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has signed an agreement for the first phase of the Eroğlu Knitting project, a $120 million investment aimed at establishing a fully integrated garment manufacturing facility. This factory will oversee the entire production process, from spinning to final garment production, enhancing Egypt’s position in the textile industry.

According to Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of SCZONE, the factory will span 100,000 square meters in the rapidly growing West Qantara Industrial Zone, creating 5,000 jobs and targeting an annual production capacity of 30 million garments.

This marks the second investment in West Qantara by Turkey’s Eroğlu Global Holding, led by businessman Nurettin Eroğlu. The group is also developing another garment factory in the zone with an investment of over $40 million, covering 64,000 square meters and expected to generate 2,000 jobs. Trial operations for this facility are set to begin in April. Additionally, plans for a second phase of expansion are under review, which would increase the total project investment to $180 million.

El-Din highlighted that the first phase of development in the West Qantara Industrial Zone has already attracted 12 projects, covering 1.112 million square meters with a total investment of $511 million. These projects have collectively created over 21,500 job opportunities in just 20 months.

He emphasized that West Qantara has evolved into a key hub for textiles, garments, and food industries, leveraging its strategic location near major ports in Port Said and Sokhna to serve regional and international markets. The growing investment in the area reaffirms its potential as a center for industrial and economic growth in Egypt.
