Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), signed a contract this morning at the SCZONE’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to establish “Interloop Group for Ready-Made Garments”, a subsidiary of Pakistan’s Interloop Group—specialized in the manufacturing of socks for leading global brands, denim (jeans), and sportswear.

The project will be established on a 60,000 sqm area with total investments of USD 35.2 million (equivalent to EGP 1.76 billion), creating over 1,000 direct job opportunities. Entire production output will be allocated for export markets, underscoring SCZONE’s competitiveness as a regional hub for manufacturing and exports in this vital sector. The contract was signed by Mr. Syed Faseehuddin Bukhari, company representative, in the presence of several SCZONE officials.

Mr. Gamal El-Dien said: “The Interloop project marks the first-ever Pakistani industrial investment within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, representing a milestone in strengthening industrial cooperation between Egypt and Pakistan. The project reinforces Qantara West’s position as one of the most promising industrial destinations globally, endowed with the capacity to attract diverse investments—particularly in the ready-made garments and accessories sector.”

“Dedicating 100% of production for exports reflects foreign investors’ confidence in SCZONE’s investment climate, while enhancing SCZONE’s contribution to Egypt’s export growth and supporting global supply chains in the apparel industry. This agreement raises the total number of projects in Qantara West Industrial Zone to 39 projects, with combined investments of nearly $1.044 billion, providing around 55,700 direct job opportunities over a total area of 2,442,400 sqm.” Stated the Chairman
