A Comparitive Study on Technical Parameters of Woven Fabrics

The technical parameters of woven fabrics can be listed as the fiber composition of the fabric, yarn count, weave of the fabric, yarn density, cover, cover factor, crimp of yarns, crimp angle (?), fabric thickness, fabric geometry, etc.
Woven fabrics come up of intersections of yarns, each single thread having its own defect and uniformity along its length. When the yarns come together to form the fabric, they carry their properties with themselves. The fabric which forms a plane exhibits its own features but is also effected with the variations in the yarns it is made up of.
Keeping this in mind, the technical parameters which are dependent variables such as cover, cover factor, crimp of yarns, crimp angle (?), fabric thickness, and fabric geometry, will all be effected by the changes in the yarn structure. These technical parameters are determined before the fabric production but yarn structure will be varying them locally. Besides, the technical parameters which are independent variables such as the fiber composition of the fabric, yarn count, weave of the fabric, yarn density, all have effects on the above mentioned dependently varying parameters. The idea in this research is to find out how these dependent technical parameters change throughout the fabric plane in comparison with the independent technical parameters.
The experiments will be done on a 100% cotton fabric with three different yarn counts, three different yarn densities, and three different fabric weaves, all having the same finishing treatments. The dependent technical parameters which are cover, cover factor, crimp of yarns, crimp angle (?), fabric thickness, and fabric geometry will be studied and the changes throughout the fabric plane will be expressed and compared with the independent technical parameters by statistical and graphical analyses.
