BEIJING, (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) -- China's Cotton Market Ran Steadily with Garment Exports According to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

China exported garment value at US$11.8 billion in March, up 48.3 per cent year on year, and imported 213,000 tons of cotton, down 17.7 per cent. Its output volume of yarn hit 1.76 million tons, up 12.4 per cent. In the first quarter of this year, the export value of China's textile products grew 19.4 per cent year…

The price of standard cotton purchased by factories averaged 13,921 yuan/ton (US$1,990/ton) in March, one percentage point higher than February.

The contractual price nationwide under the matching model for May amounted to 14,683 yuan/ton, up 2.5 per cent month on month.

On the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange, cotton futures' price under May contract rise 2.9 per cent month-on-month to 14,875 yuan/ton.

Cotton prices on the world market climbed more forcefully than the domestic market, as the price for the May contract in New York went up 8.7 per cent on month to reach 77.75 US cents pound in March.
