Boom in Vietnam textile export to U.S.

The Vietnamese Trade Ministry has stated that Shipments of Vietnamese garments and textiles to the US have earned more than US$2 billion in the first ten months of 2005.

Stateside sales of the categories subject to quota accounted for $1.39 billion, the ministry said. The regimes move to grant export visas online has turned to a big boost for local exporters. Visas are being granted to companies with export quotas distributed by the ministry. The regime will also be carried out through the next year. Vietnam is alongside talks with the U.S., requesting early use of export quotas for 2006.

USA is the only country that imposes quota restrictions out of Vietnam’s largest clothing buyers in the world.
