CHINA: China`s Apparel sales slow down.
The National Bureau of Statistics of China reported that November 2010 total retail sales of consumer goods rose by 18.7% year-on-year to 1,391.1 billion yuan, which is 0.1 percentage points higher than the previous month.
Retail sales in urban areas reached 1,204.6 billion yuan in November, up 19.0%, and those in rural areas rose by 17% to 186.5 billion yuan.
Sales of garments, footwear, hats and knitwear by enterprises larger than a certain scale increased by 20.4% to 59.6 billion yuan. The growth was 12.2 percentage points smaller than the previous month. The November consumer price index for apparel was 1.6% higher than the previous month, and is considered to have an effect on sales.
The total for the first eleven months of this year grew by 18.4% year-on-year to 13,922.4 billion yuan, which is 0.1 percentage point higher than the first ten months of this year, of which sales of garments, footwear, hats and knitwear by enterprises larger than a certain scale increased by 24.5% to 517.7 billion yuan.
