EGYPT: 30% Increase in the Extra Long Staple Cotton Production.
The Weekly report of Cotton Arbitration and Testing General Organization (CATGO) predicts that there will be an increase in the world production of extra long staple cotton with a percentage increase of 20% to reach 504 tons of the new cotton crop season 2010/2011.

This is due to increasing each of Egypt, China and United States of America the cultivated area of extra long staple cotton comparing with the previous season where it increased this season by 30%.
"The report clarifies that the cultivated area for long staple cotton in Egypt was doubled to 127 thousand hectares with an expected production of about 105 thousand tons". according to data from the international cotton advisory.
Eng. Tharwat El Mineawy ( Chairman of CATGO) has announced that what has been contracted to be exported from the Egyptian cotton to the global markets from the beginning of the season reached about 188 million USD.
Eng. Mineawy said India is the largest importer of Egyptian cotton with a 34.95% share, followed by China with 23.49% followed by Pakistan with a percentage 12.18%.
