Egypt: Egyptian cotton in crisis
The Egyptian textile industry has shortage of cotton which cripples textile machinery in Egypt. This is as a result of reduced planted areas in addition to the fact that some countries prohibited exporting cotton. This has led to increasing the world prices which threatens to put many factories out of work.

According to textile mills, "it may stop production soon unless the cotton is imported from abroad", in addition to they were forced to reduce employment to meet the cut in production due to shortage of supplied cotton, this threatens 3400 workers to loose their jobs in Misr Helwan for Spinning and Weaving factory.
