Egypt imports 13 Thousand tons of cotton fibers from Sudan

The Cotton & Textile Industries Holding Company decided to import 13 thousand tons of Sudanese cotton for 91 cent/lb as to cover the demands of local spinning mills.

The Cotton Exporters Union (CEU) officials stated that this is the 3rd time in this season for the Holding Company resort to importing cotton to suffice the domestic needs. Moreover, He pointed out that, by the beginning of 2004, the Holding Company had imported 38 thousand tons of cotton as 5 thousands from Sudan and 33 thousand tons from Greece.
