Egypt launches fashion and design council

They bring together their collective knowledge and experience in design, production, retail,

export, marketing, media and public relations to develop and grow Egypt’s fashion, textile,

cotton and design industry and place Egypt on the international fashion map.

THE EFDC MISSION IS:

-Help designers at various stages of their businesses through its support initiatives

and programs. These include sourcing scholarships, internships, work placement,

mentorships, promotion, business support, year round workshops, events and awards.

-Develop and showcase Egyptian designers in the local and international fashion arena.

-Support the human capital development through training programs at all levels in the

industry.

-Promote the Tourism sector through supporting local retail platforms that preserve the

Egyptian heritage in design, fashion and craft.

-Encourage international brands and designers to source raw materials and production

in Egypt.

-Guide local businesses to meet international standards of design and quality.

-Establish close ties with international fashion councils, industry leaders, and global

media outlets to raise awareness and promote the Egyptian Fashion & Design industry.

In its first year the EFDC will kick off a series of workshops by leading Egyptian and International Industry members, organize vocational training for students, emerging designers as well as more established businesses. The EFDC will also provide opportunities for local and international events and pave the way for a local fashion week. Funding, initially through its founders will be generated through sponsorships, membership fees, events and services to the Industry.
