Egypt’s Textile Exports Reach $493 Million in First Five Months of 2025

Egypt’s textile industry continues to show steady growth, with exports rising 7% year-on-year to reach $493 million during the first five months of 2025, compared to $461 million during the same period in 2024, according to a statement from the Textile Export Council.

Hani Salam, Chairman of the Council, noted that the current export volume represents 38% of the sector’s annual target of $1.25 billion, underlining the industry’s resilience amid global economic challenges.

Key Export Segments and Destinations

The fabrics segment remained the dominant sub-sector, generating $262 million, or 53% of total textile exports. Other key segments included:

Yarn and sewing thread: $105 million

Technical textiles: $71 million

Fibers: $50 million

Monthly performance peaked in March and May, each recording $108 million in export value, followed by February ($97M) and January ($96M).
