JAPAN: Japan`s apparel imports from ASEAN grow sharply
According to a Japan Textiles Importers Association report based on Ministry of Finance statistics, the nation’s apparel imports in April increased by 2.9% in value over the same month of last year to 194,720 million yen. In quantity, imports decreased by 3.6% to 390.88 million units.

Imports from China showed no major fluctuation in value at 163,903 million yen, but the volume declined by 6.5% to 339.08 million units.
In value, imports from ASEAN jumped 36.6% to 17,978 million yen. The volume climbed 39.4% to 32.86 million units. In value, imports from Vietnam grew by 27.4% to 9,700 million yen, along with those from Indonesia by 83.1% to 2,625 million yen, Myanmar by 63.5% to 1,900 million yen, and Thailand by 13.5% to 1,880 million yen.
Imports from India also sharply increased by 25.2% to 2,914 million yen.
