Şahinler Holding to build 50,000-square-meter factory in Egypt for Zara production

#ŞahinlerHolding, a Turkish conglomerate with an annual turnover of $1 billion, is expanding its investments in #Egypt with plans exceeding $100 million in the ready-to-#wear and #tourismsectors.

The group is preparing to establish its fourth garment factory in Egypt, a 50,000-square-meter facility dedicated to producing apparel for global fashion brand #Zara. The factory will be located in the third phase of Robbiki City, east of Cairo, and aims to capitalize on Egypt’s competitive advantages, particularly low labor costs.

In addition, Şahinler Holding is investing heavily in expanding its ready-to-wear operations. The company has allocated more than $41 billion through 2026, including the completion of its third sportswear plant in Egypt. A recently launched 15,000-square-meter facility, backed by a $13 million investment, increased the number of production lines from 10 to 34.

Beyond textiles, the company is diversifying its portfolio with its first overseas tourism project. Under its “Mega Saray” brand, Şahinler plans to build a luxury resort on the Red Sea, with investments expected to reach $60 million. The project, potentially located in either the Red Sea region or Sharm El-Sheikh, is set to feature a 700-room hotel.

Şahinler Holding currently operates in textiles, ready-to-wear, construction and real estate, free-zone management, catering, sports, packaging, and tourism. The group employs around 10,000 people.

Chairman Kemal Şahin highlighted the company’s international growth during a book launch event in December 2024, attended by Nobel laureate Prof. Dr. Daron Acemoğlu. “The #textile sector in Turkey is facing challenges, but our #factory in Egypt is performing well. We have doubled our investment there,” Şahin noted.
