Syrian Textile exports rise in 2005
Textile industry of Syria was able to achieve profits for the first time this year, due to inflow of new investments in this industry for past five years; Jamal- al-Omar Director General of Syrian Textile Industries' Establishment said here on February 7.

Moreover, Syria's textile export generated more than $96 million worth of revenue for the year 2005, informed Director General of the Syrian General Institution of Spinning Materials, in a statement.
Jamal al-Omar explained the importance of textile industry which contributed to the national economy.
He hoped that textile industry will be able to compete with other industries in Syria as well as other markets abroad, in the coming years.
Textile industry, considered an integrated industry should be supported as it contributes to nations economic revenues and profit, he opined.
Revenue for the year 2005 reported an increase of about two millions compared to the year 2004, said Dr. Jamal al-Omar.
Syria's domestic sales for the year 2005 recorded SP 21 billion, which was about SP 3 billion more compared to the previous year, he said.
