US cotton production hits its lowest in 25 years

Shiela Corley, a cotton statistician for the department's National Agricultural Statistics Service, attributed the overall decrease in acreage nationally to farmers continuing to switch to crops such as soybeans and corn, which are cheaper to grow than cotton.
