Major slump in Egypt cotton yarn exports

Egypt cotton yarn exports slumped to 21.7K tons in 2019, down 16.8% from 2018 and 43% since 2015. As EU demand shrinks, Egypt is losing ground in its key markets, Italy and Portugal, despite its fine yarn selling at more than double the price of Turkish and Indian yarn in Europe.
