A huge decrease in Egyptian exports of cotton yarn to USA
Exports of Egyptian combed cotton yarn to USA increased in 2003. In 2002, the Egyptian exports reached 1,276Tons. But in 2003, exports increased with 168.43% to reach 3,457 Tons. The Egyptian cotton yarn exports share in the US market reached 6.43% of total imports of USA.

On the contrary, in 2004 the Egyptian combed cotton yarn exports to USA will dramatically decrease, due to the lack of the Egyptian cotton fibers. There is shortage of delivered cotton to the Egyptian mills and the Egyptian cotton crop covers the domestic needs until March only. The Egyptian government decided to take immediate actions to import cotton. The first batch of imported cottons will be received during the forthcoming days from Greece.
