Egypt:Implementation of New procedures to ease import restrictions fabrics

Ministry of Trade and Industry starts to apply new procedures that will reduce the technical restrictions of importing the fabrics which have been described by workers in ready-made garments as an important step towards solving the problem of unavailability of fabrics to small and medium industrial entities.

The Grievance committee in the general authority for the control of exports & imports to the ministry of trade & industry has agreed officially on exempting the imports of fabrics from regularly printing data of the importing fabrics which includes (Product Name – the country of region – type of cloth – mixing ratio – importer's name).

Mr. Yehia El Zananiery, vice-president of the general division of ready-made garments traders, said that this decision will allow a wider area to solve such problems which in turn reduces the factories ability to exercise their imports to meet their needs, at the time where Mr. Ahmed El Zafrany, (Chief of the division) ensure that the new resolution limit smuggling and allows the importers to carry out their activities without any problems in the imports of fabrics.

Mr. Hassan Ashara, (member of the chamber of the textile industries) refers to that the mills of public and private cannot cover the needs of local factories from fabrics, because of what he regarded as not keeping pace with the trends of modern development.

In the past, the ministry of trade & industry require a data card on imported fabrics as well as the data on expulsion, according to the Egyptian standard specification of technical requirements for the importation of woven fabrics.
