Major surge in Egypt imports of Greek Cotton
Egypt imports of short staple cotton from Greece has reached record level of more than 57K Tons and value which exceeded 83 Million Euro’s in 2019. Greek cotton represented 62% of Egypt imports of short staple cotton, and with a surge of 35% compared to 2018 imported quantity.

Greece is the main exporter of cotton in the EU region as it represented 81% of EU exports of cotton in 2019, with more than 349K Tons in 2019 with a remarkable increase of 73% in quantity compared to 2018. Turkey is the largest importer of Greek cotton representing 53% as it reached more than 185K Tons in 2019, and Egypt remains to be the 2nd largest import market of Greek cotton representing 16.4% of Greek cotton exports.
