Global Sports To Develop Modells E-commerce Site

Global Sports Inc, a developer of e-commerce sites for sporting goods retailers, said on Monday it will develop and operate the online retail site for regional sporting goods retailer Modell's Sporting Goods. The new site is expected to launch before the holiday season, the company said. Modell's currently runs 89 stores in several Northeastern states, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The company had been operating its e-commerce site using internal resources and third-party relationships before signing the deal with Global Sports. According to Sports Trend magazine, Modell's Sporting Goods is the sixth largest US sporting goods retailer with annual sales of about $436.0 million last year. Shares of Global Sports closed at $16.20 on the Nasdaq stock market on Friday
