The Egyptian Ministry of Oil has received a proposal for a $2.5 bn (EUR 1.7 bn) ethylene cracker project in the Doumyat area on Egypt's east coast from an unidentified Japanese firm.
On 15 Jan 2008, a group of representatives from the Japanese firm will come to Egypt to initiate discussions. A Kuwaiti firm made the same project proposal and will carry out a feasibility study.
