JAPAN: Japan`s cotton yarn imports rise 8% in 2010
The Japan Spinners’ Association reported that 2010 Japanese imports of cotton yarn increased by 8.1% from the previous year to 250,639 bales. The recovery can be said to be small, as 2009 imports were at a historically low level due to the financial crisis, and indicates a decrease in the distribution of cotton yarn…

By country, imports from Pakistan fell 31.7% to 61,732 bales, while those from Indonesia, India and Thailand marked significant growths. Especially, Indonesia became the largest supplier last year with imports from this nation rising to 83,627 bales from 56,274 bales in 2009.
Imports of combed yarn sharply rose by 20.5% to 147,280 bales.
Imports of cotton blended yarn also grew by 10.6% to 31,791 bales.
