Major slump in Egypt cotton yarn exports
Egypt exports of cotton yarn has declined to reach 21.7K Tons in 2019, with a slump of -16.8% compared to 2018, and – 43% compared to 2015. The EU region imports of cotton yarn has also declined in quantity by -9.7% in 2019 compared to 2018, at it reached 250K Tons. Turkey and India remain to be the main suppliers of cotton yarn to the EU region as they both represented more than 72% of EU imports of cotton yarn in 2019.
Egypt is still the 4th largest supplier of cotton yarn to the EU region, and Italy is the main market for Egyptian cotton yarn as it reached 6.4K Tons in 2019 representing 60% of Egypt exports of cotton yarn to the EU region.
