Pakistan working to increase textile export
Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Monday said the government was working to increase exports by the textile industry that accounts for 60 percent of the country's total exports.

Chairing a high-level meeting, Aziz reviewed various initiatives taken by the textile ministry to push exports and improve performance.
He said there has been significant improvement in modernizing the textile industry as substantial investments have been made over the past five years.
The government will continue to take all steps to help the textile industry improve its productivity and competitiveness.
Aziz also emphasised the need to associate provincial governments in creating a sense of ownership and to benefit cotton growers. He said such a move could help facilitate value addition in the textile industry and lead to increased foreign exchange earnings for Pakistan.
