The Spanish government is is exploring a new, European_Union-wide system of clothes sizes after a study showed that 41% of female consumers found it difficult to buy garments that fit properly.
The study, on more than 10,000 Spanish women, followed complaints that many textile companies only seemed to make clothes for young and very thin women and that sizes often varied between companies.
Size-orientated fashion retailer Myshape is also looking to tackle the issue in the US by selling clothes it says both fit and flatter.
Myshape CEO Louise Wannier said: "Buying clothes that fit can be difficult, especially since there's no standardisation in women's sizes, and most clothes are designed only according to one particular body shape."
