The Egyptian Spinning Industry is an asset for regional textile and clothing integration

The Egyptian spinning industry is considered an asset for countries in the Middle East, North Africa and AGOA African countries in supplying them with high quality primary textiles to be able to produce higher quality and price oriented home textiles and apparel products for the US and the EU market as a safe guard…

It provides the opportunity of regional integration between the upstream textiles industry in Egypt with the upstream clothing industries in Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, Kenya, and Ethiopia. Meanwhile, it provides a sourcing hub for apparel and home textiles products with short lead time.

The Egyptian spinning industry has exceeded the 40,000 Tons exports of Egyptian cotton yarn for the 1st time in four years. Demand for Egyptian cotton yarn has increased in 2003 mainly due to the competitiveness of Egyptian cotton yarn prices after the devaluation of the Egyptian Pound.

The Egyptian spinning industry has recently attracted foreign and local private investment that has been able during the last few years to have a foothold in the Egyptian cotton yarn exports. The average yarn count of private spinning factories exceeds 35Ne taking advantage of the fiber properties of the Egyptian cotton fiber.
