U.S. apparel import prices rose in key categories over the first quarter with a double-digit increase even observed for cotton sweaters or man-made fiber suits and sweaters. The rise is mostly due to much higher Chinese prices this year, negatively affecting China's exports. Chinese suppliers however remain competitive with man-made fiber apparel, as indicated by our series of statistical tables comparing unit prices per category and origin.
