According to him, screen printing units have hiked charges by Rs 1.50 per meter for lungi, Rs 5 for saree and 25 per cent for pigment fabric. Calendaring units hiked their charges by 45 paise per meter for long cloth, 42 paise for dhoti, 41 paise for lungi and 43 paise for bedsheet.
The Calendaring and Screen-printing Association presidents Govindasamy and Jothibasu cited the steep rise in raw material, labor and machineries cost as a reason for hike in their wages.
